NOSZVAJ

Noszvaj is located in Heves County, on the southern border of Bükk National Park, in the valley of Kánya-creek. Historical sources first mentioned the town in 1248 as an Episcopal village. The De la Motte Castle is laying in a 25-acre park, it was built in late Baroque style between 1774 and 1778 based on the plans of János Povolni. In the present the castle is functioning as a hotel, so some of the rooms can be visited – one can be amazed by the authentically furnished rooms and magnificent frescoes. The Bükk National Park is the most mountainous, wooded park in the country. It has a large number of archaeological sites – the most significant ones amongst these are the prehistoric men caves. The park’s marked routes offer excellent opportunities for walking, cycling and active recreation. The village has joined to the European Cities and Villages in Bloom competition for the first time. The typical image of the village is characterized by whitewashed farmhouses, with blue-bordered windows and the multitude of wine cellars. The region of the Wolf-stones is part of the village, in the hillside cave dwellings can be seen.
