DABAS / ÓCSA

The town of Dabas with rich history is located in Pest County at the intersection of Pest plain and Kiskunság. Historic sources from the year of 1241 already mention the settlement. Nowadays multitude spectacular classicist building await its visitors, including the outstanding Zlinszky chateau built in 1760. The Gombay-Dinnyés chateau was erected and decorated abundantly in baroque style, originates from the 18th century. The Classicist ‘Úri Casino’ built in the first part of the 19th century, served as a centre of social life. The Kossuth House, also from the 19th century, was home of the parents of the reformer Lajos Kossuth.The surroundings are rich in nature values, convenient regarding tours, bicycle and horse rides. In the north a nature reserve, the Ócsa marshes awaits its visitors, while the in the south we can discover dunes and heaths that vision us the past of Kiskunság.
In Ócsa, the eponymous village of the Protected Landscape Area of Ócsa, we can visit a unique and valuable church fortress from the 12th-13th century. Strolling on one of the nature trails we are able to study and enjoy the rich flora and fauna of the region beside the atmospheric marshlands.
